East Wing

missing bestkingbed.jpg

The wonders of this space are many. The antique king bed is dwarfed in this grand space - space all around and space above. There's plenty of room left for romancing and dancing. We have old love songs in the cd player - the scene is set.

Add to that the fireplace and massage chair which are invaluable comforts, ancient and modern, in a bedroom filled with Old World charm. It's easy to feel you are in another country or another century.

The cathedral ceiling soars and uplifts, high above a classic Grand Texas room, and is filled with mystery and timelessness when lit either by firelight or the patterns thrown up by many strategically placed, pierced metal candle holders. (Tea candles provided.)

Pictures are worth thousands of words, but for those of you who would like the details spelled out, read on. (Rates are listed at the bottom.)

The East Wing consists of 3 rooms and is adjacent to the spa. From the patio in the back, you step up into the sun porch which has a fountain and plants, comfortable seating and lots of sunlight. The spa is the indoor pool to the left. To the right you pass into a small room which is the Breakfast Nook for this suite and which also houses an automatic rolling massage table, seen often in physical therapists' offices. Thru this room you enter the chalet style bedroom, which has a cathedral ceiling with open rafters and skylights. This room alone is 420 sq. ft. of long leaf pine, floor and walls, from the Old Forests. The antique furnishings include the large scrolled king headboard and a lovely dining table and chairs where you can enjoy your breakfast in privacy, next to the windows, listening to the fountain and the birds. There is a comfortable, extra long sofa and a leather "latest, greatest" automatic massage chair, with many modes and capabilities, into which you can really disappear. The foot massager is very relaxing.

One wall is a massive stone hearth, which always has a fire ready to light in cool weather. It is a marvelous treat to be able to fall asleep to the glow of the fire or of the many candles the mantle holds, in pierced metal containers that throw lovely patterns high into the spaces above. Another wall is built-in shelves and drawers and holds the digital cable TV, dvd and cd players. The cd player is filled with old love songs. The digital cable has many great music stations.

The phone line is private and for local calls. You can use it to call me if you need me, because I will not hear you knock. You have a private bath in your room with shower and tub. You have high speed internet access if you want to stay in touch. Few do. Most come here to be alone together, away from it all, relaxing and refreshing themselves and their relationship. It's truly great for that. Many wedding nights, anniversaries, and birthdays are spent here by people who live close by, but need this escape. It is so much easier than traveling out of town.

You have also the Breakfast Nook to yourselves, with coffee maker, teapot, microwave, and small refrigerator. Dishes, linens, wine glasses, corkscrew, ice bucket, etc. all provided. If there is anything more you can think of, please let me know.

$200 (Thursday-Monday) - $175 (Tuesday & Wednesday) / (plus hotel tax), single or double occupancy. $50 per extra person or extra bed. Rates may vary for some holidays and special events. Confirmation agreement is necessary.
